Graduation Day — Receiving the University Gold Medal
The Beginning
Amrita was always going to wear a uniform. Born into a military family spanning three generations — her grandfather served in the British India Army, her father retired as a Colonel — joining the armed forces was less a decision than an inheritance. The question was never if, but how.
Growing up, she was that rare combination: fiercely athletic, deeply academic, and equally at home on a stage as on a sports field. Singing, dancing, competitive sports — she threw herself into all of it, and she did it seriously.
The defining moment came during a visit to an Army dental hospital. The Commanding Officer was a lady dental officer — uniform crisp, bearing impeccable, presence commanding. Amrita watched her and made a decision that would shape the next three decades: that is what I will be. Not just a dentist. A dentist in the armed forces.
It helped enormously that dentistry demands exactly what she had in abundance: an artist's eye for proportion and beauty, and a scientist's discipline for precision. When she graduated at the top of her class as a University Gold Medalist, it was confirmation — not surprise.
The Uniform Years
Dr. Amrita began her military dental career with the Indian Army, serving in the olive greens before transferring to the Indian Air Force, where she rose to the rank of Wing Commander. Over nearly two decades of service, she treated patients across postings, worked in demanding clinical environments, and earned the kind of experience that no textbook can provide.
Her clinical work and conduct earned recognition at the highest levels. She received multiple commendations from the Chief of Air Staff and from Army Headquarters — honours reserved for those who go well beyond what duty requires.
The Armed Forces instilled something that still defines her practice today: the belief that excellence is not a milestone you reach, but a standard you maintain. Every single time.
"Military life teaches you above everything else that preparation and precision matter. You do not rush. You do not guess. You plan, you execute, and you stay calm under pressure. That is exactly what good dentistry is."

Beyond the Clinic
The same qualities that define her dentistry — precision, courage, calm under pressure — also define how Dr. Amrita lives outside it. She earned the coveted Para Badge, awarded only to those who complete military parachute training — a feat that places her in a small and exceptional club. On her days off, she has carved her way down snow-covered mountain slopes. Every adventure, different terrain — identical mindset.

Her Approach
After nearly two decades in uniform, Dr. Amrita chose to build something of her own — and she built it on a single conviction: every patient deserves the standard of care she would want for her own family.
At The Smile Edit, nothing is rushed. There are no unnecessary procedures, no pressure, and no shortcuts. Every case is assessed thoroughly; every treatment is explained clearly. Patients leave not just with a healthier smile, but with a complete understanding of their own oral health.
She brought her MBA and management training to bear on the clinic itself — creating a space that feels like a luxury wellness studio rather than a dental surgery. Because how a patient feels matters as much as what is done to them.
Twenty-plus years in, the Gold Medalist's standard is unchanged: the best outcome possible, every single time.

The Smile Edit
Most people do not look forward to a dental appointment. And honestly, that is fair. It is not just the treatment — it is the whole experience. The clinical smell. The harsh overhead lights. The sounds. The waiting room that feels exactly like what it is.
Dr. Amrita knew this well. Nearly two decades of treating patients — including many who had avoided the dentist for years out of genuine anxiety — made one thing clear to her: the environment shapes the experience just as much as the expertise. You can be the best clinician in the room and still have a patient who spends the entire appointment bracing themselves.
So when she built The Smile Edit, she started with a question most clinics never think to ask: what if coming here did not feel like coming here?
The result is a space that works against dental anxiety before a single instrument is picked up. Warm natural light fills the rooms. The colours are calm and considered — nothing clinical, nothing cold. The temperature is always comfortable. There is quiet, good music in the background. And at the door, you are greeted by the smell of freshly brewing coffee, not antiseptic.
Every surface is impeccably sanitised — but it does not look like a hospital. It looks like somewhere you might actually choose to be.
And then there is the dentistry itself. Dr. Amrita has spent two decades refining painless techniques — not as a marketing line, but as a clinical commitment. Procedures that patients had spent weeks dreading often turn out to be far simpler than they feared.
The Smile Edit is for anyone who values quality — meticulous sterilisation, treatments that hold up over time, and the straightforward belief that where you receive your care should be as good as the care itself.
